Activate a Feature Set on your Player
The SpinetiX Activate platform is an online service that allows you to activate and manage Feature Set licenses for your players. To activate a Feature Set on your player, you must first purchase the appropriate license and then activate it through the platform. This ensures that your player has the necessary license to support advanced features enabled by the WIDGETS, KIOSK, or SYSTEMS Feature Sets.
Important things to note before assigning a license to a player:
- Once a license is added to an account, it cannot be transferred to another account. This is regardless of whether the license is assigned to a player. Remember that your user can have access to multiple accounts, so make sure to select the right account.
- A grace period of 180 days begins at the activation date of the license on the designated player. During the grace period, the license can be transferred to other players.
- After the grace period, the license will be permanently bound to the player on which it was activated and cannot be used on another player. A locked license can be suspended from the assigned player if you need to activate a different one on that player.
- If you need to activate a higher license on a player with a "locked" license, you must first suspend the current license assigned to it, and then you can activate a new license.
There are two methods available to activate a license on your player: online and offline.
Online method
This method requires the player to be connected to the internet and is done in the SpinetiX Activate platform. Follow the steps below to assign the license to your account and/or activate your license on your player.
- Go to https://activate.spinetix.com on your browser and sign in to your account.
If you already have an account on SpinetiX ARYA, use the same credentials to log in, as the two platforms share the users' database. Otherwise, sign up for a new user account using an email address, a Google account, or a Facebook profile.
- Enter the serial number of your player (skip this step if you only want to assign the license to your account and activate the license on the player later).
- Enter the license code of your WIDGETS, KIOSK, or SYSTEMS license.
- Click on the "Assign" button.
If the target player is online, it will automatically get the license (this can take up to 5 minutes when the player is in SLOW SYNC mode).
Offline method
This method is exclusively for players that will never be connected to the internet. Follow the steps below to activate your license on your player.
- Go to https://activate.spinetix.com on your browser and sign in to your account.
- Enter the license code of your WIDGETS, KIOSK, or SYSTEMS license.
- Click on the "Assign" button.
- Find the license in the Your Licenses section below and enter the serial number of your player, then press the "Enter" button on your keyboard.
-
The system will verify that your player is offline, and if so, it will present you with a DOWNLOAD button. Press the DOWNLOAD button. The system will present you with the notice above.
WARNING: Downloading the license will permanently bind the license to the target player immediately and is irreversible. Proceed with caution. - Download the configuration file containing the license and follow the steps as outlined in this article: click here to update your player's configuration with this file, and the license will be activated on the player.
Notes:
- The "Assign" button has two effects:
– assigning the WIDGETS, KIOSK, or SYSTEMS license to the Activate Account.
– activating the license on a player (if you have entered a player serial number and the player is online). - Once a license is assigned to an account, it cannot be transferred to another account.
- Licenses assigned using the offline method will immediately associate the license to the player's serial number, with no grace period for changes. This process is irreversible once completed.
Replace a license
During the grace period
If you have assigned a license to a player by mistake, or you wish to change the license assigned to a player, follow the steps below to replace the license currently assigned to a player.
- Locate the license you want to remove within the list. You can use the Search field at the top of the "Your Licenses" section.
- Double-click on the player's serial number.
- Delete the serial number that is currently assigned to the license.
- Enter the serial number of the new player and press ENTER on your keyboard to save the changes.
After the grace period
Once the license is past its grace period, it becomes permanently bound to a player.
If you need to use a different license on that player (e.g., upgrade from WIDGETS to KIOSK or SYSTEMS), follow the steps below:
- Locate the license you want to remove within the list. You can use the Search field at the top of the "Your Licenses" section.
- Click on the SUSPEND button on the right to remove the Feature Set from the player.
Note that the license code remains assigned to the player's serial number, and the "SUSPEND" button changes to a "RESTORE" button (to be used if you wish to reassign the suspended license to that player). - Locate another free license in the list (i.e., there's no player serial number assigned).
- Enter the serial number of the player and press ENTER on your keyboard to save the changes.
License status
- A check mark icon indicates that the license is available.
- A check mark icon with an activation date indicates that the license is in the grace period.
- A lock icon with an activation date means that the player is past its grace period.
- A lock icon with an activation date and a download button on the right indicates that the license was downloaded and assigned manually to a player.
Feature Set Activation FAQ:
-
What happens to a permanent Feature Set license that is suspended?
– Suspending a permanent Feature Set license deactivates it on the player. The license itself stays in the customer’s Activate account and remains linked to the same player’s serial number. -
What happens to a Feature Set license if the associated player is returned under RMA?
– If the player qualifies for an RMA replacement, SpinetiX will, as a courtesy, detach the Feature Set license from the faulty unit and reassign it to the replacement player’s serial number (by default, the license is permanently bound to the original device). If the license is still within its grace period in Activate, customers may also self-assign it to another player.
