What are Feature Sets?

Feature Sets are optional and add advanced functionality to your signage installation through the use of Elementi, enabling additional capabilities on your players. These Feature Sets come in three varieties: WIDGETS, KIOSK, and SYSTEMS, to suit different needs.

Compatibility

You can activate Feature Sets on the HMP400/W, iBX410/W, iBX440 players, and any DSOS-compatible third-party players.

Activating a Feature Set on your Player

The SpinetiX Activate platform is an online service that allows you to activate and manage Feature Set licenses for your player. To activate a Feature Set on your player, you must first purchase the appropriate license and then activate it through the platform. This ensures that your player has the necessary license to support advanced features brought through the WIDGETS, KIOSK, or SYSTEMS Feature Sets.


Important things to note before assigning a license to a player:

  • A grace period of 180 days begins at the activation date of a license on a player. During this period, a WIDGETS, KIOSK or SYSTEMS license may be transferred to other players.

  • After the grace period, the license will be permanently bound to the player on which it was activated. Subsequently, the license can be suspended from the player but cannot be transferred to another.

  • Once a license has been assigned to an account, it can only be moved to another player, but not to another account. If you need to modify a license on a player, you can suspend the current license assigned to it and activate a new license. For example, upgrading from a WIDGETS to a KIOSK license.

There are two methods available to activate a license on your player.

 

Online method

This method requires the player to be connected to the internet and is done in the SpinetiX Activate platform. Follow the steps below to assign the license to your account and/or activate your license on your player.

  1. Go to https://activate.spinetix.com on your browser and sign in to your account.
    If you already have an account on SpinetiX ARYA, use the same credentials to log in, as the two platforms share the users' database. Otherwise, sign up for a new user account using an email address, a Google account or a Facebook profile.

  2. Enter the serial number of your player (skip this step if you only want to assign the license to your account and activate the license on the player later).

  3. Enter the license code of your WIDGETS, KIOSK or SYSTEMS license.

  4. Click on the "Assign" button.



    If the target player is online, it will automatically get the license (this can take up to 5 minutes, when the player is in SLOW SYNC mode).

Offline method

This method is exclusively for player which will never be connected to the internet. follow the steps below to activate your license on your player.

  1. Go to https://activate.spinetix.com on your browser and sign in to your account.

  2. Enter the license code of your WIDGETS, KIOSK or SYSTEMS license.

  3. Click on the "Assign" button.

  4. Find the license in the Your Licenses section below and enter the serial number of your player, press the "Enter" button on your keyboard.



  5. The system will verify that your player is offline and if so, it will present you with a DOWNLOAD button. Press the DOWNLOAD button. The system will present you with notice above.

    WARNING : Downloading the license will permanently bind the license to the target player immediately and is irreversible. Proceed with caution.

  6. Download the configuration file containing the license and follow the steps as outlined in this article: click here to update your player's configuration with this file and the license will be activated on the player.

Notes:
  • The "Assign" button has two effects:
    1. Assigning the WIDGETS, KIOSK or SYSTEMS license to the Activate Account.
    2. Activating the license on a player (if you have entered a player serial number) if the player is online. 
  • Once a license is assigned to an account, it cannot be transferred to another account.
  • Licenses assigned using the offline method will immediately associate the license to the player serial number with no grace period for changes. This process is irreversible once completed.

 

 

Removing a license

During grace period
In the event that you have assigned a license to another player by mistake or you wish to change the license assigned to a player, follow the steps below to remove a license on player.

  1. Locate the license in the "Your Licenses" section.
  2. Click and delete the serial number that is currently assigned to the license.
  3. Enter the serial number of the new player and press ENTER on your keyboard to save the changes

After the grace period
Once the license is past its grace period, it becomes permanently bound to a player. If you need to change the license (e.g., upgrading from a WIDGETS to a KIOSK or to a SYSTEMS) follow the steps below to modify a license on a player.

  1. Locate the license in the "Your Licenses" section.
  2. Click on the SUSPEND button on the right.

    This action removes the player's serial number associated with the license.
  3. Locate the new license in the licenses list
  4. Enter the serial number of the player to the new license you wish to assign to it and press enter.
Note: the SUSPEND button changes to a RESTORE button , which can be used if you wish to reassign a license on a player to which it is bound to.


License status

  • A Checkmark indicates that the license is available.


  • A Checkmark with an activation date indicates that the license is in the grace period.



  • Lock without an activation date means that the license was assigned to a player was the license was downloaded.


  • A Lock with an activation date means that the player is past its grace period.

  • A Lock with an activation date and a download button on the right indicates that the license was downloaded and assigned manually to a player.
