Managing Annual Feature Sets

If you have a Feature Sets Subscription, you can specify a capacity for each feature set we offer, including Widgets Kiosk and/or Systems.

A capacity defines how many players can be assigned an annual license for a specific feature set. For example, if your Kiosk feature set has a capacity of 10, you can assign an annual Kiosk license to up to 10 players at the same time.

Your available feature set capacity can be viewed in Assets, either on the Subscription Overview page or directly in the Players page when assigning a feature set to a player. Users with access to Assets can assign and remove Annual Feature Sets from players.

 

Assigning an Annual Feature Set

To assign an Annual Feature Set to a player:

  1. Navigate to the Players section on ASSETS
     
  2. Select a player that does not currently have a feature set assigned.

  3. Open the Actions menu (3 dots) and select Assign Annual Feature Set from a dropdown.

  4. Select the desired feature set. A dialog box will appear displaying all available feature sets in your account. Each feature set shows its remaining available capacity.

  5. Click Assign Annual Feature Set to confirm.

Note: After assigning, it may take some time for the feature set to be applied. Factors such as your internet connection or whether the player is online can affect this. While pending, a spinning wheel will appear next to the feature set. Once applied, you will see the label Annual next to it.

Removing an Annual Feature Set

To remove an Annual Feature Set from a player:

  1. Navigate to the player's Actions menu. 
  2. Click Remove Annual Feature Set
  3. Confirm the removal. 
  4. You can then either close the dialog or wait for the removal to complete. Once the license has been removed, the same dialog allows you to immediately assign a different Annual Feature Set to the player.

Once removed, the license availability is reflected in the subscription overview and becomes available for assignment to another player.

This ability to freely move licenses between players is one of the key benefits of subscription-based Feature Sets.

 

Understanding Annual vs. Permanent Feature Sets

There are two types of feature sets available:

Annual Feature Sets

Annual Feature Sets are available through a Feature Sets Subscription, which provides a license capacity that you can allocate to players as needed.

When assigned to a player, they are labeled Annual and displayed with a recurring subscription icon.

Their key benefit is flexibility: you can remove a feature set from one player and reassign it to another at any time, provided you have available capacity. This makes it easy to manage player replacements and changing deployments.

Permanent Feature Sets

Permanent Feature Sets continue to be managed through the ACTIVATE platform and are tied to the traditional licensing process.

When a Permanent Feature Set is applied to a player, it is labeled Permanent and displayed with a lock icon.

These visual indicators make it easy to identify which licensing model is being used on each player.
